KUALA LUMPUR – Malaysia Airports Holdings Berhad (MAHB) has undergone the Airport Health Accreditation (AHA) programme by Airport Councils International (ACI) through the assessment of the former’s seven airports, as part of efforts to raise safety standards in curbing the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to MAHB, one of its airports, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen International Airport (ISG) in Turkey, has received the accreditation while the other six are expected to receive theirs in the second quarter of this year.

The six airports are the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA), Penang International Airport, Kota Kinabalu International Airport (KKIA), Kuching International Airport, Langkawi International Airport and Subang Airport.

“The AHA is awarded based on the health measures and procedures implemented by the airports including cleanliness and disinfection, physical distancing, availability of facilities, staff safety and passenger communications.

“The accreditation enables airports to demonstrate their safety practices in a measurable and an established manner,” it said in a statement today.

The AHA programme ensures that all health and safety measures implemented at airports are aligned with the industry best practices, particularly the ACI Aviation Business Restart and Recovery guidelines and recommendations by the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Restart Task Force.
