SEA Games: Eight titles, 10 e-sports gold medal up for grab


KUALA LUMPUR — Eight e-sports titles including League of Legends: Wild Rift and PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG) have been announced for the upcoming 2021 SEA Games in Hanoi, offering 10 gold medals for grab.

According to the Vietnam Recreational and Electronic Sport Association (VIRESA), three titles are set for computer gaming namely League of Legends (team), Fifa Online 4 (team) and Crossfire (team), while the remaining are for mobile gaming.

Titles for mobile gaming include League of Legends: Wild Rift male and female team; Arena of Valor (team); PUBG team and individual; Free fire (team) and Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (team).

“All titles for the 31st SEA Games list of competitions are licensed to be published in Vietnam by the Ministry of Information and Communications,” VIRESA said in a statement today.

According to VIRESA, the venue for the competitions will be at the Vietnam National Convention Center in Hanoi.

The 2021 SEA Games scheduled to take place from November 21 to December 2 will feature 40 sports.

For the record, national Hearthstone player, academician Dr Yew Weng Kean, a PhD holder in electronic engineering won the country’s first e-sports gold medal during the 2019 SEA Games in the Philippines.
