A TOTAL of RM883 million will be credited to about 900,000 micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) on March 25, whose appeals under the government’s Prihatin Special Grant (GKP) 1.0 and 2.0 have been approved.
Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Utama Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz (picture) said the payment will be credited to registered bank accounts under the GKP application and the approval status can be checked from March 24 onwards via the GKP portal.
“Taking into account GKP 1.0 and 2.0, including the additional GKP, the total amount of GKP recipients is close to 900,000 MSMEs, amounting to RM3.58 billion of financial assistance,” he said in a statement yesterday.
Under the Malaysian Economic and Rakyat’s Protection Assistance Package, the government had announced a one-off financial assistance of RM1,000 through additional GKP to MSMEs in 12 Movement Control Order (MCO) states, which came into force in January and February 2021.
This also includes a financial assistance of RM500 to MSMEs in non-MCO states.
Tengku Zafrul said the additional GKP aims to alleviate the financial burden of businesses following the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, and to increase the productivity of production and services of MSMEs.
