Covid recoveries exceed new cases after 2 days

THE number of recovery cases has exceeded the new Covid-19 cases after two days, according to Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah.

A total of 1,495 patients recovered from Covid-19, bringing the cumulative number of recoveries to 318,784 as of noon yesterday.

There were 1,116 new positive cases, of which 1,108 were local transmissions and eight were import cases.

Selangor reported the highest number of new cases at 403, followed by Kuala Lumpur (KL) with 158 cases and Sarawak with 124 cases.

Malaysia’s confirmed Covid-19 cases totals to 334,156 cases to date. The active cases, which are being treated in health facilities nationwide, are 14,134, including 156 patients being placed in the intensive care unit with 60 requiring respiratory aids.

Five deaths were reported, making the total number of fatalities to 1,238 cases.

“The death cases today involve one case each in Negri Sembilan, Sabah, Pahang, Penang and KL. Four of the death cases involved citizens and one non-citizen,” said the Health DG.

He also informed that the ministry identified 10 new clusters involving eight workplace clusters and two community clusters.
