MALAYSIA recorded 1,219 new Covid-19 cases today, of which 1,212 cases were from local transmissions and seven being import cases.
Health DG Tan Sri Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the increase in new cases has made the total cumulative number of cases to 327,253.
“Selangor reported the highest number of new daily cases with 499 cases. Of these, a total of 406 cases were from clusters and close contact screening.
“Other states with high numbers are Sarawak with 225 cases and Johor with 169 cases,” he said in a statement today.
The country continues to record a higher number of recoveries compared to the daily Covid-19 cases with 1,346 recoveries, bringing the overall total to 310,958.
Of the currently 15,075 active cases that are being treated in health facilities nationwide, 154 patients were placed in the intensive care unit (ICU) while another 64 patients required respiratory aid.
Two new deaths involving citizens were recorded in Sabah, increasing the death toll to 1,220.
The ministry also detected 12 new clusters involving eight workplace clusters, two community clusters, and one cluster each involving detention and import centres.
