Khairy: Vaccination registration low, 6.1% of population to date

THE number of registration for Covid-19 vaccination through the MySejahtera app is still low, said  Science, Technology and Innovation Minister Khairy Jamaluddin Abu Bakar (picture)

As of 11am today, the registration tallied at 1,468,137 people, or 6.1% of the population.

“This is quite a low level and we need to increase our efforts to get more people to register for the vaccination,” Khairy said in a press conference today after the meeting of the Special Committee on Ensuring Access To Covid-19 Vaccine Supply, also known as JKJAV.

He said five districts that have the highest rate of vaccination are Kuching with 1,677 doses, Sibu (1,360), Kinta (1,141), Kuantan (1,075) and Mukah (822).

Three states with the most number of vaccines administered to date are Sarawak with 7,402 doses, Pahang (2,416) and Perak (1,277).

Meanwhile, he said the JKJAV has agreed on a guideline that specifically defines who are the frontliners that are eligible to be inoculated in Phase 1 of the National Immunisation Programme.

With the guideline, the minister said the document will address issues of “cutting queue” in the vaccination programme.
