HEALTH DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah yesterday clarified that Serdang Hospital would be vaccinating its clinical department heads and not “influencers” as reported by certain media platforms.

He said earlier checks with the hospital also revealed that the inoculation exercise would also involve the hospital frontliners apart from the clinical department heads.

According to a statement by Dr Noor Hisham, the heads are mainly consultants in their respective fields and are exposed to the risk of Covid-19.

“The Health Ministry would like to emphasise that vaccination will be given in accordance with the priorities as stated earlier,” he added.

Dr Noor Hisham said this in response to a news report which stated that Serdang Hospital is planning to inoculate the “influencers” first instead of the medical frontliners.

Earlier yesterday, Dr Noor Hisham also said the so-called “influencers” are the ministry’s clinical head departments themselves.

“(It is) to encourage their frontliner staff to get vaccinated. There will be no queue cutting and no non-medical influencers will be included,” he said on his official Facebook page.
