BANK Islam Malaysia Bhd is targeting to attract 500,000 new customers in the next 12 months through its partnership with the newly-launched TheNoor digital application.

It recently inked a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the app’s owner Noor Luminous Sdn Bhd to offer Islamic banking facilities and products via the app, said the bank in a statement. Launched last month, TheNoor is a Muslim lifestyle app that features the prayer times, Qibla finder, media player and Quranic verses translated into five languages (Malay, English, Mandarin, Tamil and Indonesian).

Bank Islam CEO Mohd Muazzam Mohamed (picture) said the appointment as the app’s official bank would enable it to provide various facilities and products, including cash management system and personal, vehicle and home financing at special rates and business financing for Nilofa Group’s agents and stockists.

Through the app’s portal link, users can access the bank’s products and services such as retail financing, small and medium enterprise financing, takaful, credit and debit cards, and account opening.

“Bank Islam is pleased to have the opportunity to support local entrepreneurs in expanding their business and to build an ecosystem that allows the people to become entrepreneurs, so that they can improve their quality of life,” he said.

Mohd Muazzam said the collaboration with Noor Luminous was also in line with Bank Islam’s digitalisation direction to innovate its offerings to meet its customers’ current wants and needs.

The MoU signing ceremony was also attended by Noor Luminous CEO Noor Neelofa Mohd Noor.
