Usher in the Year of the Ox with New World PJ

THE celebrations for the most exciting day in the Chinese calendar will carry on despite the nation being in lockdown.

New World Petaling Jaya Hotel’s (New World PJ) renowned chefs have prepared special set menus — hearty Poon Choy for takeaways to usher in the Year of the Ox.

The hotel is inviting all those celebrating to indulge in an exquisite selection of seasonal dishes thoughtfully prepared to nourish the spirit of togetherness.

“The traditional luxurious Poon Choy will be filled with treasures of the sea such as whole abalone, scal- lops, sea cucumbers, prawns, black moss and more,” it said.

The takeaway dishes will be available for pickup or can be delivered to doorsteps.

Additionally, there will be Take-away Treasure Sets, made for four to five people, available until Feb 28, 2021.

Some of the sets include “Abundance of Wealth” which consists of sea cucumber soup, roasted chicken, fresh beancurd sticks, crispy dumplings, steamed lotus rice, deep-fried Nian Gao and others for the price of RM588.

The “Abundance of Joy” will offer steamed groupers, fish maw, black mushroom and vegetables, fried rice with shrimp and dried chicken meat and more for RM388.

The “Toss to Prosperity” Yee Sang platters will also be available in vegetarian options, smoked salmon, prawn and abalone versions.

“We have also created an ‘Auspicious Fortune Cake’ for dessert and is not to be missed,” the hotel said.

The hotel will let customers enjoy the afternoon with a special “Afternoon Prosperi-Tea” which will feature a delightful mix of Western pastries and Chinese-cuisine favourites such as abalone, fried Nian Gao and steamed pau.

The tea will highlight dishes inspired by the festive season including, abalone and jellyfish with “kerabu” sauce, Sichuan style wontons in hot and sour vinegar, red bean puff swans, barbecue chicken puff, sweet potato with golden cake and rice cracker, and steamed pau with chocolate paste.

“Sweet selections to be savoured are Choux au Craquelin with salted caramel custard, raspberry Breton with chocolate, rosebery, pistachio, red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting, blood orange walnut macarons, mini mirror glazed mango mousse dome, creamy orange mousse dome and firecracker mix fruits Swiss roll,” New World PJ said.

New World PJ has also created special staycations, inviting guests to begin the start of spring with a stay in one of its beautifully designed guest rooms.

“The rooms will feature all the latest amenities and complimentary breakfast for two with an additional RM100 daily food and beverage credit, complimentary room upgrade and a late check-out,” it said.
