KUCHING, – The number of evacuees who are still housed at temporary relief centres (PPS) in the state has dropped further to 486 people this morning compared with 528 people reported yesterday.
The Sarawak State Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) Secretariat today reported that currently only two PPS – at SK Tanah Puteh and Serian community hall, both in Serian district – still operating after PPS Kampung Slabi Entukuh hall closed at 6pm yesterday.
A total of 338 people from 114 families are currently housed at PPS SK Tanah Puteh while 148 people from 52 families are still placed at the Serian community hall.
Serian is the only district in Sarawak which is still facing the floods for the third time this year since the first wave hit the state on Jan 13, followed by the second and third waves on Jan 30 and Feb 3, respectively.
