Students in 30 PPRs to benefit from Celcom’s PdPR free WiFi

KUALA LUMPUR – B40 students from 30 People’s Housing Projects (PPRs) in nine states will now be able to enjoy free WiFi under Celcom Home Wireless service for home-based teaching and learning (PdPR) session until Apr 30 following the implementation of the Movement Control Order (MCO).

Celcom Axiata Berhad (Celcom), in a statement today, said the initiative primarily targeted at students sitting for SPM and STPM exams residing at PPRs in Penang, Perak, Kuala Lumpur, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka, Johor, Pahang, Terengganu and Sabah.

“The service enables unlimited data usage for learning applications and online classroom sessions via Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Google Meet, Google Classroom and Webex,” it said.

Moreover, 24 community internet centres (PIK), managed by Celcom, throughout Perlis, Kedah, Kuala Lumpur and Sabah, have extended their operating hours from 9am to9 pm daily to allow students to utilise connectivity facilities at the centres for their online learning.

This initiative is part of Celcom’s efforts in collaboration with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to provide communications relief to B40 students.
