Malaysia records the highest number of Covid-19 deaths today with 16 cases.
This brings the country’s death tally to 537 cases.
Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said some of these were cases that required further investigation before the cause of death could be confirmed as Covid-19.
The deceased were from Johor (3), Sabah (4), and Selangor (8).
All of them had immunocompromised medical histories, mostly diabetes and hypertension.
Previously, the highest death count in a day was 13.
The country had also recorded 2,643 new Covid-19 cases, bringing the total number of active cases to 25,140 and the cumulative number in the country to 131,108.
Selangor having recorded the highest fatalities, also recorded the highest number of daily cases at 1,086, followed by Sabah (401) and Johor (298) .
Currently, 170 patients are undergoing treatment in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) where 82 require ventilator aid.
Meanwhile, 2,708 individuals have recovered from the virus, bringing the total of recovered cases to 105,431.
Six new clusters have been identified while three had ended.
“The three expired clusters are Jalan Bomba, Makmur and Tapak Bina Galeri, while the new ones are Jalan Klinik, Tapak Bina Hevea, Bukit Belimbing, Kauran, Kapital and Setapak Indah,” Dr Noor Hisham said.
Three of the clusters are in Klang and Petaling, Selangor, two in Lembah Pantai and Titiwangsa, Kuala Lumpur and one in Keningau, Sabah.
