IF YOU are craving for those authentic cheeseburgers from the US, here is some good news for you.
Pasadena Burger — which has brought authentic California-style gourmet cheeseburgers and the first-ever dipping burger to Malaysia — will be teaming up with Cheers2Cheers Cafe (C2C Cafe) for an exclusive pop-up collaboration.
Both Pasadena Burger and C2C Cafe are owned by JIS Social Lounge, a new concept of lounge from Japan.
All this while, Pasadena Burger only offers delivery services, but right until Dec 31, customers can now enjoy the freshly cooked burgers while dining in surrounded by the cafe’s colourful and aesthetic interior.
“The original idea is for home delivery, where you cook the burgers yourself. The delivery box includes all the cheese and condiments ready to be prepared. All you need to do is bring it home and cook it,” JIS global business director Cornelius Lu said.
However, perhaps due to the different phases of the Movement Control Order, Pasadena Burger has been overwhelmed by the number of orders.
To overcome the occasional backlog situation, the burger brand decided to allow customers to dine in at JIS Social Lounge at Star Boulevard, Jalan Yap Kwang Seng, Kuala Lumpur.
“JIS Social Lounge is offering this place for people to dine in. Later, we’d be introducing a pop-up stall by early next year. The first one is expected to be in Petaling Jaya,” Lu said.
Customers can also order their favourite Pasadena burgers along with the breakfast and lunch sets that are regularly offered.
Pasadena Burger is inspired by Pasadena city in California where the cheeseburger was born.
It caters to food enthusiasts who enjoy the tastes of the classic gourmet burger the brand offers.
Lu said the formulation of the recipe, together with ingredients, was brought all the way from the city of Pasadena to Malaysia.
“In terms of the formulation, the recipe and ingredients are from the US — except the patty. There are no US Department of Agriculture regulations in Malaysia, so we are using Australian beef,” he said.
The patties are made from high-grade Australian beef. It is combined with Cheddar cheese, a staple of the American cheeseburger, as well as muffin-style buns that are the perfect combination of the soft and crunch.
According to Lu, the simple Californian burgers are different from the usual cheeseburgers.
“It uses a soft bun. It’s a very simple burger — not like satay sauce or tomyam sauce. That’s with just the original bun. For the dipping version, the cheese makes the difference,” Lu said.
The dipping burgers come with three dipping sauces which are the honey cheese, Cajun spicy cheese and habanero southern Californian cheese. They cover the wide range of palates for food lovers whose preferences range from sweet, salty and spicy.
“Some people like the Cajun cheese more, some people like habanero. And also, they come with biscuits, crispy cheese. You have to put a crispy cheese into the burger to get a very different kind of sensation,” Lu said.
The muffin buns are also replaced with the usual burger buns for the dipping burgers, so that it wouldn’t feel soggy.
So far, there are only three dipping sauces, but Lu said more would be introduced in the future.
Customers can also order up to a maximum of three patties for both the cheeseburgers and the dipping burgers.
Pasadena Burger is only a part of the menu in C2C cafe.
Other highlights of C2C cafe is that it’s reasonably priced towards the working community where the Japanese set lunch only costs RM18.90.
Customers can also enjoy a cup of Illy Coffee for only RM5. To find out more, you can visit http://pasadenaburger.com.
