PNB announces 4.25 sen ASB income distribution and 0.75 sen one-off payment

Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) has announced a distribution payout of 4.25 sen per unit plus an “Ehsan” payment of 0.75 sen for the first 30,000 units for its flagship fixed-price unit trust fund Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) for the financial year ending Dec 31, 2020 (FY20).

The ASB income distribution comprises 3.50 sen distribution, 0.75 sen of base bonus.

The Ehsan payment of 0.75 sen for the first 30,000 units is declared in conjunction with the 30th anniversary of ASB.

The PNB, via its wholly-owned unit trust company, Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), said the total payout for the income distribution will amount to RM7.6 billion and benefiting 10.2 million unitholders who own 173.2 billion units.

Excluding the Ehsan payment, the income distribution of 4.25 sen is much lower than last year of 5.50 sen and also the lowest since 1990.

Overall assets under management increased by 2.7% to RM320.5 billion as of Nov 2020.

PNB chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said a higher contribution from international equities have cushioned the lower returns from other asset classes.
