The fuel is 25% more efficient in reducing friction to deliver a more responsive drive

PETRONAS Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) has officially introduced its new high-performance RON97 fuel, Petronas ‘Primax 97 with ProRace’, said to be its best to date.

The company said the new fuel replaces the previous Primax 97 which has been on the market since August 2015, upgraded with an improved advanced energy formula.

PetDag also said the enhanced fuel is the result of superior technology and data, in which it has been engineered for unbeatable power with the world’s first advanced dual friction modifier for better responsiveness and fuel-efficient performance.

It added that the fuel was developed by its fuel technology experts with the learnings from seven Formula One (F1) World Constructors’ Championships and its technical partnership with the MercedesAMG GmbH Petronas F1 team.

“We designed the next breakthrough in fuel technology by understanding people’s driving needs and engine technology,” the national oil company said in a virtual launch yesterday.

The new formulation of fuel includes the world’s first advanced dual friction modifier, which PetDag said is 25% more efficient in reducing friction to deliver a more responsive drive.

This enhances the interaction of fuel and oil to improve fuel efficiency for longer and better mileage, simultaneously reducing carbon emission.

Additionally, the group also noted that the new fuel has a better deposit control, where it removes 99.9% of deposits from key areas in the engine for effortless power.

PetDag MD and CEO Azrul Osman Rani said the new Primax 97 with Pro-Race fuel is the group’s best fuel so far, as the new formulation is designed to cater to advanced engine technologies and meet the high-performance driving needs of its customers today.

“Having translated our fluid technology from track to road, we are very excited to finally let our customers experience an effortless drive, achievable through the threein-one benefit comprising power, responsiveness and efficiency,” he said.

Prior to its official launch, PetDag said the performance of the new fuel was tested by customers through a series of blind tests.

The tests were conducted under real world conditions, where it revealed that two out of three participants experienced better performance from the new Primax 97 compared to the previous RON97 fuel.

More specifically, 69% of participants said the new fuel delivered more power, while 66% admitted that it felt more responsive.

In terms of efficiency, 73% of those who participated in the tests agreed that their vehicles recorded better mileage with the new fuel.

Commenting on this, Azrul said the group is confident that the new fuel will surpass its customers’ expectations and delight their driving experience.

“The results of the blind tests and feedback from the drivers were truly encouraging. As a leading energy and solutions partner, we continuously seek out avenues to refine and improve our offerings to remain as customers’ brand of choice,” he said.

Also speaking at the virtual launch, F1 world champion Lewis Hamilton said the new Primax 97 is the fuel that gives your car the power as and when it needs most.

“The competitiveness on the racetrack is intense. I need a fuel that gives me the power to move beyond when I accelerate, when I take corners and when I need to get ahead of the pack. I know what power means and you should too,” he said.

The new RON97 petrol is now available at all Petronas stations nationwide. It is currently priced at RM2.08 per litre from Dec 19 to Dec 25 under the weekly fuel pricing format.
