Umno info chief slams Ku Li-Tun M “cooperation”

UMNO information chief Shahril Sufian Hamdan has slammed Tengku Tan Sri Razaleigh Hamzah (picture) for allying with Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad ahead of the Budget 2021 voting.

In a Facebook posting, Shahril Sufian said being in cahoots with the Opposition MPs will cause confusion among Umno party members.

It also disrespects the party’s decision to support the federal budget.

“As a youth in this party, there is no doubt that I will respect the senior party members.

“However, I really do not understand the need for a senior UMNO MP, who is influential and advisory to the party, to hold a press conference with the opposition without hesitation.

“The effect is not significant,” he said today.

Shahril Sufian said what had transpired ahead of the budget voting was an obvious political move by Tengku Razaleigh, or commonly known as Ku Li, which serves their political interests.

“Politicians are allowed to voice their opinion, but when they openly announce calling for a policy change without the party’s permission, then it is a different story.

“It is no longer just speculation, it is an open political activity in public,” he said.

The move should not be normalized or deemed as a “new normal” for Umno and the press conference between Tun Mahathir and Tengku Razaleigh should not be taken lightly, Shahril Sufian said.
