FORMER Prime Minister (PM) Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad said he is willing to testify in a civil suit filed by 10 Gombak voters against Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali for breaching his fiduciary duty and representations to his constituency.

Dr Mahathir said he is willing to be a witness as the suit mentioned the series of events that led to the downfall of the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government earlier this year.

“All the things mentioned in this claim have been clarified by me repeatedly.

“I am willing to offer myself as a witness in court if my testimony is required,” he said in a statement today.

Earlier, the voters from Gombak through their counsel Yohendra Nadarajan — filed the suit at the High Court on Nov 27 and named Azmin as the sole defendant, seeking a declaration that Azmin, who is also the international trade and industry minister, had committed tort of deceit against them.

The plaintiffs are also seeking a declaration that Azmin has breached his constitutional oath under Article 59(1) read together with the 6th schedule of the Federal Constitution by breaching the representations.

Azmin had previously said in an interview that the formation of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government was Dr Mahathir’s idea.
