Selangor records highest Covid-19 cases, mostly from Teratai cluster


MALAYSIA detects 1,472 new Covid-19 positive cases today, which Selangor registers the highest figure with 891 cases.

Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said most of the cases in Selangor today came from the workplace Teratai cluster linked to Top Glove Corp Bhd involving foreign workers at several factories.

The increase in new cases today have brought the country’s overall total to 67,169.        

There are now 10,495 active Covid-19 cases that are being treated at health facilities nationwide.

Among the active cases today, 120 were placed in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 44 of them requiring respiratory aid.      

Meanwhile, 1,552 patients have been discharged today, increasing the total recovered cases in the country to 56,311, which equals to 83.9%.        

Additionally, three new Covid-19 deaths were in Sabah today. They were aged between 24 and 64, of which two of them had critical illnesses.

This brought the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 363.
