THE Budget 2021 was passed at the policy stage today after getting the majority vote.

Earlier, the Supply Bill was tabled at the policy level by Finance Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz
The financial proposal represents the biggest expenditure for the country so far, allocating RM322.5 billion for next year’s spending, about RM30 billion higher than the amount allocated for 2020.
Malaysia’s operating expenditure (OE) next year will account for 73.3% or RM236.5 billion of the total expenditure while development expenditure (DE) will be at RM69 billion or 21.4%.
About RM17 billion or 5.3% also will be reserved for the Covid-19 Fund.
During his winding-up speech today, Tengku Zafrul mentioned additional proposals to refine the budget which include reducing the allocation made for the Department of Special Affairs (JASA), extension in the number of i-Sinar withdrawers as well as extending the RM300 one-off payment to all front liners.
