TOP Glove Corp Bhd is ramping up production outside Klang, Selangor to meet customers’ demand after 28 of its factories there were ordered to close due to an increase in Covid-19 infection cases among its factory workers.
According to the AmInvestment Bank Bhd (AmBank Research), Top Glove held an analyst briefing today on the shutting down of its 28 factories in Meru, Klang for Covid-19 screening.
“So far, 5,767 workers have been tested and 2,534 are positive. The infected workers have been sent to hospitals while the rest are under quarantine in the company’s newly built apartments and hotels.
“Meanwhile, Top Glove is still awaiting confirmation from the authorities on the date of operation resumption,” it said in a research note.
AmBank Research said of the 28 factories, 20 are glove production facilities with an estimated capacity of about 45 billion pieces per annum.
At 3.48pm, its share price was down 51 sen to RM6.84 with 66.73 million shares done.
