Malaysia hits new record high with 1,884 new Covid-19 cases

MALAYSIA has a new record high of daily Covid-19 infections today with 1,884 new cases.

Health DG Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said of the total cases, 1882 were local transmissions and two were imported cases.

He added that 1,203 cases today were in Selangor alone, followed by 289 in Sabah and 196 in Kuala Lumpur.

The increase in new cases today have brought the country’s overall total to 56,659, with 13,842 active cases that are being treated at health facilities nationwide.

Among the active cases, 115 were placed in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 48 of them requiring respiratory aid.

Meanwhile, 883 patients have been discharged, increasing the total recovered cases in the country to 42,480, which equals 75%.        

The country has also registered two deaths in Sabah, involving a 58-year-old Malaysian woman and an 80-year-old Malaysian man.

This has brought the country’s Covid-19 death toll to 337.
