FGV Holdings Berhad (FGV) has submitted business zakat payment worth RM1,627,565 million to the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) in Cheras this week.
FGV group CEO Datuk Haris Fadzilah Hassan said the total business zakat payment of the company for the financial year 2019 has recorded an increase of RM1.2 million compared to the previous financial year.
“The increase in the amount of zakat payments is driven by the business progress and profits of the companies under the FGV group.
“We are grateful for the opportunity to channel aid to the needy,” he said in a statement today.
FGV has paid a total of RM6.8 million in business zakat to PPZ-MAIWP over the past five years.
“FGV is also one of the three largest business zakat payers for bumiputera public listed companies (BPLC) in 2018 with a total of RM15.75 million, 2016 (RM14.86 million) and 2015 (RM15.13 million).
“Apart from the Federal Territories, FGV also pays business zakat to other states throughout the country where the group operates,” he added.
The handing over of zakat by FGV’s Plantation Sector COO Syed Mahdhar Syed Hussain to PPZ-MAIWP CEO Ahmad Shukri Yusoff.
It was witnessed by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Religious Affairs) Datuk Seri Dr Zulkifli Mohamad Al-Bakri.
