THROUGH its Year End Zakat (YEZ) Campaign, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council’s Zakat Collection Centre (PPZ-MAIWP) is calling the public to expedite the responsibility of zakat by Dec 31 this year to get an assessment income tax rebate.
“In contrast to previous years, the YEZ Campaign 2020 was launched yesterday to encourage the public to pay in advance and avoid congestion at its counter to curb the spread of Covid-19,” said PPZ-MAIWP in a statement yesterday.
PPZ-MAIWP provides various zakat payment channels, namely operating 10 of its counters as usual from 8.15am to 4.45pm throughout November and December, via its online portal www.zakat.com.my, special door-to-door services through Zakat Ride2U and Mobile Zakat Counter, and official agents through Internet banking, online portals, e-wallets, bank and postal counters.
For any zakat inquiries, payments and also booking of door-to-door services, one needs to only contact zakat hotline at 1-300-88-5757, or visit its portal www.zakat.com.my or email to [email protected]
It said zakat payers have the opportunity to win more than 2,000 prizes through the payment channels provided from Nov 16 to Dec 31, 2020. Winners will be selected based on draw and subject to terms and conditions.
For this year, it stated that zakat payers have the chance to win 1,000 Asnaf Preneur Goods e-vouchers with a total value of RM50,000 which can only be redeemed at stores run by asnaf entrepreneurs.
The initiative not only gives appreciation to zakat payers, but can help asnaf generate income in these difficult times.
“PPZ-MAIWP calls on those eligible to continue to pay zakat without delay. If more people come to pay zakat, then more asnaf can be assisted, especially in this Covid-19 pandemic situation,” it added.
