BOOKWORMS are in for a treat as the Big Bad Wolf Book Sale now brings Malaysians more reading galore through its exclusive partnership with e-commerce platform, Shopee Malaysia.

In a statement, Big Bad Wolf Books said this partnership will see additional prices slashed on 10 titles that will be available from today to Nov 14, 2020, on Shopee.

Some of the titles include the “Harry Potter Movie Magic Bundle” and “Star Wars The Force Awakens Lightsaber Adventure”.

The book fair debuted its very own e-commerce site this year, after the Covid-19 crisis prevented it from holding the event at a physical space as it had done every year.

Its co-founder Andrew Yap said due to the pandemic and the ongoing restrictions, many Malaysians will be working from home and purchasing items online, including books.

“This partnership with Shopee allows two of the most loved brands to reach out to more Malaysians and inculcate a passion for reading, which reflects Big Bad Wolf Books’ mission as a passionate reading advocate organisation,” he said.

Yap said as many industries have shutdown due to the pandemic, reading has become a popular hobby once again and there has been a surge in demand for books, both in adults and children.

“Books are jam-packed with knowledge and allow readers to spark their imaginations, while also enabling them to see things in different perspectives and take into account their thought process and actions.

“This is the experience we aim to deliver to our readers and further spread the joy of reading,” he added.

According to Yap, the online book site has recorded more than 1.5 million shoppers to date since it first launched on Nov 4, 2020.

Meanwhile, Shopee Malaysia regional MD Ian Ho said the book sale has become one of the most anticipated events for readers across the country.

“It is humbling to know that we have been chosen to house this book fair to reach millions of customers that are on our platform.

“This is especially so as schools are closed due to the Covid-19 pandemic, and with our free shipping and integrated logistics services, parents and children can get books delivered right to their doorstep without having to leave their homes,” he said.

Ho added that this is a good time to instil the habit of reading and love for books, as the nation goes under another round of Conditional Movement Control Order.

“Accessibility to affordable books can boost the habit of reading among our young ones with a wide assortment of genres that will spark creativity and knowledge-building.

“This is only the first chapter with Big Bad Wolf Books and we look forward to penning many more chapters together,” he said.
