PRIME Minister (PM) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin (picture) has agreed to put Bumiputera affairs under the PM’s Department (PMD) as per recommended by the Bumiputera Economic Congress (KEB) in its resolution.
He said the government will discuss in detail the resolution of KEB 2020, which derived from an improvisation of the original KEB 1965, that was done in the last two months.
“I assure you that the government, led by myself, will review every resolution submitted by KEB 2020. I also agree with one thing in the resolution which is to put Bumiputera affairs under the PMD,” Muhyiddin said at the closing of KEB 1 (1965-2020), organised by Majlis Perundingan Melayu (MPM), in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.
MPM has submitted 13 items in the resolution, including to strengthen Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) as the leading agency to uphold the prosperity agenda for Bumiputera and the Orang Asli community.
It also proposed to strengthen Malaysian Islamic Economic Development Foundation (Yapeim) as the leading agency to propagate a comprehensive business and commerce agenda in line with Islamic principles.
MPM also submitted that Mara and Yapeim both be placed under the PMD in the resolution, among others.
