THE Malaysian Aviation Commission (Mavcom) has appointed Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin (picture) as its new COO effective today following the resignation of Azmir Zain from the post.
In a statement, the commission welcomed Raja Azmi who brings with him extensive knowledge and experience in the aviation industry, as well as the corporate sector.
“Mavcom is confident that Raja Azmi will be able to lead the commission well in promoting a consumer-focused and resilient civil aviation sector,” it said.
Raja Azmi will replace Azmir who resigned from his position on Aug 14 this year to pursue other interests, after being with the commission since April 1, 2016.
Mavcom executive chairman Datuk Seri Saripuddin Kasim has expressed his appreciation and thanked Azmir for his leadership and contributions to the industry, consumers and the commission.
“Azmir was a sterling representation of Mavcom’s values of integrity, impartiality and professionalism, and was unwavering in his commitment to high standards of governance while ensuring the commission operated in accordance with the provisions of the Mavcom Act 2015,” it said.
Raja Azmi was formerly the group CEO of Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) from Jan 4, 2019, to Jan 6, 2020. Prior to that, he was MAHB’s group CFO for three years.
He has served in senior management positions at multiple listed and unlisted entities, including group CFO and subsequently ED of UDA Holdings Bhd, MD and CEO of Zelan Bhd, group finance director of UEM Group Bhd, ED of Time Engineering Bhd, CFO of Tronoh Consolidated Malaysia Bhd and group financial controller of Sapura Telecommunications Bhd.
