AMANAH Saham Bumiputera (ASB) has issued dividend returns and bonuses totalling RM151.9 billion to its unit holders for the past three decades despite challenging financial uncertainties.
The unit trust fund, which is managed by Permodalan Nasional Bhd’s (PNB) wholly-owned subsidiary, Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd (ASNB), is celebrating its 30th anniversary since its inception on Jan 2, 1990.
PNB group chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said ASB has grown to be the largest unit trust fund in the country with wide-ranging investments in various financial assets and major national companies in the country.
“Throughout its 30-year period, ASB has provided dividend returns and bonus amounting to RM151.9 billion to our unit holders, despite being confronted with challenging economic crises at times,” she said in her message honouring the milestone.
PNB president and group CEO Ahmad Zulqarnain Onn said within the time span, various improvements have been introduced by the institution for the convenience of its investors.
“In the past, ASB officers had to go on-ground and into villages and rural areas to introduce ASB and were recording investor transactions in investment books manually.
“Today, ASB’s investment facilities have undergone an evolution, from a network of agents and post offices, then improved with Internet banking, and most recently introducing the myASNB portal and mobile application.”
Ahmad Zulqarnain said investors can now name the beneficiaries for their investments in ASB through Hibah Amanah and Declaration of Trusts.
“We hope with these facilities, more Bumiputera investors will choose ASB as their investment product of choice,” added Ahmad Zulqarnain.
ASNB CEO and ED Mohammad Hussin said to acknowledge the existing 10 million ASB investors, as well as entice new batches, ASNB is organising investment campaigns and contests in conjunction with the 30th anniversary celebration.
With the theme “Aspirasi Anda, Amanah Kami”, ASNB is organising contests between Aug 1 and Dec 17, 2020, with prizes worth more than RM1 million.
One of the contests, “Kumpul dan Menang”, offers a total prize worth over RM1 million, while the “Jom Auto Labur” offers a Proton Saga 1.3L Premium AT as its main prize.
Participants can enter the contest by depositing a minimum investment of RM20 for one entry point or three entry points for investment made through the myASNB portal and mobile app, Mohammad said.
For the “Jom Auto Labur” contest, existing Auto Labur@myASNB users are only required to make an additional minimum RM30 monthly deduction to ASB on top of the existing deduction, while new users need to set a minimum monthly deduction of RM60.
