MALAYSIA Airlines Bhd (MAB) launched a domestic tourism campaign offering up to 60% off holiday packages all inclusive of return flights, baggage, in-flight meals and hotel stay.
MAB’s tour operating arm MHholidays has also kicked off a “Kids Fly + Stay Free” campaign, the first promotional campaign of its kind for the year to help boost local tourism.
From now until Sept 2, 2020, every booking under MHholidays will be entitled to a complimentary package of flight and accommodation for a maximum of one child aged between three and 11 years old or an infant aged two years and below.
The holiday campaign provides package price for flight plus a three-day, two-night hotel stay ranging from RM389 to Kota Kinabalu (KK), RM189 (Johor Baru), RM239 (Kuantan), RM249 (Langkawi), RM239 (Penang) and RM189 to Kuala Lumpur from other destinations within Malaysia.
These packages are valid for immediate travel until Jan 31, 2021.
MAB group chief marketing and customer experience officer Lau Yin May (picture) said since the easing of the Movement Control Order (MCO) and the domestic travel constraints, the company knows that its customers are keen to take a break with their loved ones.
“Therefore, MHholidays is here for them — offering great value-for-money deals that cater not only for solo travellers indulging their wanderlust but for families who want to enjoy a hassle-free holiday,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Lau said MHholidays has partnered a myriad of four-to five-star hotels across Malaysia to offer deals for the campaign for customers to plan their travels up until next year.
“With Malaysia Airlines’ enhanced health and safety measures implemented across all customer touchpoints, our passengers can fly confidently to their dream destinations,” she added.
As part of this campaign, customers who book their KK’s trip with MHholidays will also be entitled to the “MHholidays & Suria Sabah Shopping Mall Privilege Booklet” which offers additional perks such as 20% discount at Big Apple Donuts & Coffee and lifestyle brands including Birkenstock, Purest Borneo and Under Armour.
MAB said the promotion is limited to a first-come, first-serve basis and is redeemable within 10 days upon arrival at KK.
The national carrier is also collaborating with Sabah Tourism to offer a special promotion in support of the #BahMarilah campaign to promote tourism into Sabah with offers up to 50% off on holiday packages and is available from today until Aug 24, 2020.
Selected participating hotels in Sabah are also offering ultimate flexibility which enables passengers to make unlimited room booking changes without any additional charges imposed, complimentary room upgrade, late check-out and one-way hotel-to-airport transfer, all subject to availability.
Packages are valid for immediate travel until Dec 31, 2020.
Sabah Tourism Board (STB) GM Noredah Othman said after the announcement of the Conditional MCO, several hotels and attractions began to roll out promotions for the local market.
“The local tourism industry is all geared up by ensuring standard operating procedures abiding by the new norm were in place,” she said in the statement.
Noredah said a good number of people have checked-in to hotels for staycations these days and many ventured out of their hometowns to explore tourist attractions in Sabah.
She said community-based tourism areas such as Kundasang, Ranau and Kiulu have seen a steady increase in the number of travellers over the past few weekends.
She further said STB has developed a landing page on its website featuring the latest deals and attractions, which then evolved into “Staycations in Sabah” and currently has more than 60 packages on the site.
Noredah added that STB is providing a subsidy for industry players to run ad promotions via digital and social media channels.
“Coupled with flight accessibility and affordable fares, we believe this will further bolster efforts to promote domestic tourism in Sabah,” she said.
