Malaysia’s number of new COVID-19 positive cases returned to a single digit with nine new cases reported today involving five imported cases and four local transmissions.

Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this brings the cumulative figure of positive cases to 9,103 and the number of active cases with infectivity to 169.

“Of the nine new cases reported, five were imported cases which were contracted overseas involving three Malaysians and two non-citizens.

“The five imported cases are from Japan, India, Pakistan, New Zealand and Singapore,” he said in a statement today.

Dr Noor Hisham said all four local transmission cases involved non-citizens, three of whom were detected from the Bukit Jalil Immigration Detention Depot screening and have been deported while one case was a referral screening case at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Sabah.
