THE daily tally of new positive COVID-19 cases surged again to 39 today, from a one digit number, which was only seven cases, yesterday.
Health director-general Datuk Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah (picture) said the latest daily figure brings to 8be,943 the cumulative number of positive COVID-19 cases in the country, while the number of active cases with infectivity is now 212.
“From the 39 new cases reported, 11 are imported cases, involving four Malaysians and seven foreigners who were allowed to enter Malaysia,” he said in a press statement on COVID-19 today.
On the 11 imported cases, he said they were from Saudi Arabia (one case in Sabah), Ireland (one case in Kuala Lumpur); South Korea (one case in Sarawak and one case in Kuala Lumpur); India (one case in Kedah); Russia (one case in Kuala Lumpur); United States of America (one case in Kuala Lumpur); South America (one case in Sarawak); United Kingdom (two cases in Sarawak); and the Philippines (one case in Labuan).
On the 28 cases of local transmission, he said, 22 involved Malaysians and six were non-citizens.
