STOCK exchange operator, Bursa Malaysia Bhd has re-evaluated its core system to ensure that technical issues – such as the one that occurred last week which halted the trading of securities on the bourse – would not happen again.
Speaking to reporters at the Invest Malaysia 2020 Series 2 here today, chief executive officer Muhamad Umar Swift said the incident was a “purely” technical issue which had been rectified.
Trading on Bursa Malaysia Securities was halted at 3:30pm last Thursday due to the technical issue and resumed the next day.
Following the technical issue, the FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI’s closing value for Thursday was revised to 1,565 from 1,573.31.
In a statement on Friday, Bursa Malaysia Securities Bhd and its partner, Nasdaq said appropriate action had been taken to prevent a recurrence of the disruption to the trading system.
