Ten local artists received a contribution of cash, gifts and daily necessities under the Finas Prihatin programme from Communications and Multimedia Ministry Puspanita (PCKKMM) patron, Datin Norlin Shamsul Bahri, at the National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (Finas) today.
Among them was veteran actress Wan Maimunah Wan Abdul Aziz who said: “I am grateful to Allah. A thousand blessings to those who still remember and celebrated us with this small but cheerful ceremony.
“We don’t expect a lot, just being remembered makes us happy. It feels like getting oxygen.”
“I am thankful there are still those who want to help and call us for shoots. For the past year, whatever I make has been gone paying medical costs. A million thanks,” said Ku Faridah.
Following this first ever PCKKMM activity at Finas, Norlin said more are being planned at agencies under it like Bernama, Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) and the Department of Information to make sure members and those in the arts field are looked after.
“We will help as much as possible through our branches and agencies – including for their children — with regard to welfare and education,” she told Bernama and RTM after the ceremony.
