GLOBAL integrated engineering services provider Serba Dinamik Holdings Bhd has announced the appointment of Azhan Azmi as the new group chief financial officer (GCFO) and Syed Nazim Syed Faisal (picture), the former GCFO, as a non-independent executive director.
Group managing director and group chief executive director Datuk Dr. Ir. Ts. Mohd. Karim Abdullah said both appointments take effect today.
“On behalf of the board, we are delighted to welcome Syed Nazim to the board and we believe he will contribute greatly towards delivering value to our stakeholders,” he said in a statement today.
He said Syed Nazim, 39, was the GCFO since June 2016 and was primarily responsible for the success of the group’s initial public offering (IPO) in 2017 and a series of corporate exercises undertaken by the group.
Syed Nazim obtained his Bachelor of Accounting in 2004 from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM). He later obtained a Master’s in Islamic Finance Practice in 2014 from the International Centre for Education in Islamic Finance, Malaysia.
“He also obtained a Certificate in Islamic Banking and Finance Law in 2013 from IIUM. He has been a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 2007,” he said.
Syed Nazim began his career with KPMG in 2003. Later in 2009, he joined MISC Bhd as strategic planning manager. In 2012, he joined RHB Islamic Bank Bhd as head of statutory and management reporting.
In 2013, he joined Ibdar Bank BSC(c), Kingdom of Bahrain, as vice president, Financial Compliance and Administration. In August 2015, he joined the Serba Dinamik group as chief financial officer and was subsequently appointed as GCFO in June 2016.
Meanwhile, Mohd Karim said Azhan Azmi, 37, possesses keen financial skills and extensive experience in integrating financial functions in driving commercial growth, which are key requisites for the chief financial officer role.
“With his proven track-record and knowledge of the organisation, he will serve us well as we chart a path of growth in Malaysia and globally,” he said.
He was the group financial controller since 2017 and has vast experience dealing with stakeholders in relation to the series of regulatory, compliance and corporate exercises undertaken by the group since then.
Among others, Azhan Azmi was entrusted to engage, on behalf of the group, with the principal bankers, analysts, auditors, consultants, shareholders and regulators, in particular the Securities Commission of Malaysia and Bursa Malaysia.
Azhan Azmi obtained his Bachelor of Accounting in 2005 from IIUM. He has been a member of the Malaysian Institute of Accountants since 2009 and a member of the Malaysia Institute of Certified Public Accountant since 2018.
“Azhan Azmi began his career with Khairuddin Hasyudeen & Razi in 2005 and later joined KPMG in the same year and served until 2009. Thereafter, he joined Schlumberger and his last position was operations controller prior to his appointment as group financial controller of SDHB in 2017,” he added.
