SENAI International Airport has reopened access to the public and is offering free parking during lunch and dinner hours from 12pm to 2pm and 6pm to 8pm until July 31, 2020.
Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd (SATSSB), the airport operator, said the free parking campaign was rolled out as part of the initiatives to increase local visitors and assist the airport’s retailers and food and beverage (F&B) providers to recover after a slowdown period in the past few months.
SATSSB acting CEO Kennedy Ayu in a statement thanked the Ministry of Transport for easing the restrictions for meeters and greeters, as well as the public to enter the terminal building.
“With this initiative, we hope to encourage more footfalls to the airport’s retail and F&B outlets while the air travellers start to pick up,” he said.
Kennedy said all procedures and precautionary measures are in place according to standard operating procedures issued by the government, such as requiring all visitors to register contact details through contactless QR (quick response) code, wear face masks and undergo body temperature screening before entering the airport.
The airport is also equipped with markings to encourage social distancing, free hand sanitisers and increased disinfection routines, especially at the common areas, as the health and wellbeing of customers remains its top priority.
Senai International Airport houses a total of 24 retail brands and 16 F&B outlets comprising local and international flavours that provide convenient dining and shopping experience for both travellers and the local community.
SATSSB, a member of MMC Group of Cos, said the free parking promotion is applicable with any purchase from the airport’s retail and F&B outlets with no minimum amount. The company said visitors must validate their parking ticket and present their purchase receipt at the airport’s information counter before leaving to enjoy the complimentary parking.
Senai International Airport, an important gateway to Iskandar Malaysia and the southern region in Johor, handled over 4.2 million passengers last year, up 21% from 3.5 million passengers achieved in 2018.
Since 2003 after it was acquired from Malaysia Airports Holdings Bhd, the airport has welcomed more than 33 million passengers with consistent double-digit growth every year.
In 2018, Senai International Airport was named “Asia Pacific Regional Airport of the Year 2018” at the CAPA Asia Pacific Aviation Awards for Excellence 2018 for its leading role in using new biometrics technology and its support of the low-cost carrier model, which has driven rapid growth.
