BMW Malaysia MD Harald Hoelzl said the introduction of the new X5 xDrive45e M Sport not only expands the company’s portfolio of locally assembled vehicles in Malaysia, but also strengthens its strategy for electrified mobility for the country.

“Last year, the BMW X5 accounted for more than 25% of the X range deliveries with over 3,000 units.

“We are certain the new plugin hybrid electric SAV will continue to uphold the legacy of its iconic predecessors,” he said in a statement.

The new SAV is equipped with 20-inch M light alloy wheels in Star Spoke style 740 M bicolour, along with the signature M sports brake.

It is powered by a three-litre six-cylinder engine complete with the BMW eDrive technology.

With a combined maximum output of 290kW/394hp and a combined peak torque of 600Nm, the SAV generates a top speed of 235km/h. The century sprint can be made in only 5.6 seconds.

On full-electric mode, it has an electrical driving range of up to 77km on a full charge, and can travel at a top speed of 135km/h.

It also features a low fuel consumption of 2.5 litres/100km and reduced carbon emission of 56g/km.

The interior is fitted with M leather steering wheel, an electrically adjustable steering wheel and sport front seats with memory function for the driver’s seat.

It comes with a 12.3-inch fully digital instrument touchscreen display and a 10.2-inch touchscreen monitor for rear passengers.

For its sound system, the X5 xDrive45e M Sport is equipped with the 464W 16-Speaker Harman Kardon.

The SAV also features the BMW Live Cockpit Professional with Gesture Control and Intelligent Personal Assistant for next-level driving assistance.

Its boot capacity can be increased from 500 litres to 1,720 litres, with an automatic tailgate operation for contactless opening and closing functions.

The SAV also offers the Comfort Access 2.0 feature which enables contactless locking and unlocking, with sensors that will recognise the vehicle key from approximately one meter away.

The X5 xDrive45e M Sport comes in the shades of Phytonic Blue, Black Sapphire, Mineral White and Artic Grey.

It will be complemented with the interior upholstery of leather Vernasca design perforations in black and a fine-wood trim Fineline Stripe with brown high-gloss.

The SAV can be owned with a monthly instalment plan starting from RM5,028 (based on estimates of an 80% loan on a five-year tenure) under the carmaker’s financing plan.

It will be available at all authorised BMW dealerships nationwide from Saturday.
