UNIVERSITI Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) today distributed a contribution of RM10,000 to 100 media practitioners in the state in conjunction with the coming Aidilfitri.
UMT vice-chancellor Prof Datuk Dr Nor Aieni Mokhtar said it had become a tradition to appreciate the contribution of journalists who have always supported the university by doing various reports over the years.
“However, this year we cannot celebrate the media as usual with an invitation to break the fast because of the rules set by the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
“So, we are doing it a bit different by giving a voucher worth RM100 to each journalist so that they can buy essential items in conjunction with Aidilfitri,” he told Bernama today.
UMT representatives send the vouchers to all media agencies in Terengganu such as Bernama, Radio Televisyen Malaysia, TV3, Astro Awani, Al Hijrah, The New Straits Time Berhad and TV9.
Meanwhile, Bernama Terengganu Bureau free lance reporter, Wan Zuratikah Iffah Wan Zulkifli said she was thrilled to receive the voucher as it was quite unique compared to the usual hamper or Raya cookies.
“This is the first time I have received a shopping voucher in conjunction with Aidilfitri, I plan to use it to buy groceries and food to be cooked on the first day of Adilfitri,” she said.
