BG CAPITAL Holdings Sdn Bhd has organised a preloved clothes and toys donation drive to aid the marginalised community in light of the Movement Control Order (MCO).
Targeting the homeless, B40 (bottom 40%) income group and refugee communities who have been greatly affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, the donation drive was organised in collaboration with Pusat Khidmat ADUN Subang Jaya, Pusat Wanita Berdaya Subang Jaya, Rotary Club of Central Damansara and GoJob MY #Clothes4B40 as the official distribution partner.
The drive took place from April 20 to May 17, 2020, where residents of Subang Jaya in Selangor and its neighbouring communities were encouraged to drop off their preloved goods at THEBASE, a popular local community event space.
The initiative received overwhelming support from the public with more people coming to donate their goods during the Conditional MCO.
BG Capital MD Saliza Abdullah (picture) said this is an exemplary initiative on how various stakeholders of different backgrounds can come together, utilise their strengths and resources to serve the same purpose.
“We decided to put this activity together as we knew many underprivileged people would be badly impacted and were in need of help due to the partial lockdown.
“Subang Jaya assemblyman Michelle Ng, the Rotary Club of Central Damansara, the National Association of Women Entrepreneurs of Malaysia, as well as various other non-governmental organisations and individuals have been extremely supportive in promoting this initiative among their network and friends.
“We also thank Pusat Wanita Berdaya Subang Jaya’s team of volunteers who have diligently helped sort the donated goods,” she said in a statement yesterday.
Saliza added that its social impact partner, GoJob MY has been appointed as the official distribution partner to capitalise on their existing marginalised group database.
Apart from preloved goods, donors had also contributed brand new clothes and various cleaning products.
The goods are scheduled to be distributed to the rightful beneficiaries in time for the coming Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration.
