LEMBAGA Tabung Haji (TH) has granted a two-month rental exemption to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) operating on its premises.
In a statement today, TH said the incentive aims to relieve the burden on the renters who have been adversely affected by the Movement Control Order (MCO) period, which is aimed at curbing the spread of the COVID-19.
Group managing director and chief executive officer Datuk Nik Mohd Hasyudeen Yusoff said about 170 SMEs renting at 60 TH premises nationwide are expected to benefit from the rental exemption.
“This initiative will also help to ease the burden on premise operators who have been affected following their inability to continue their business due to the MCO.
“Businesses and renters which have been granted the exemption include clothing stores, stores selling electrical and electronic goods, consulting and telecommunication companies, travel agents, retail stores, printers as well as companies offering maintenance and repair services,” he said.
TH also said that government-linked investment companies will continue to support the government’s efforts to ensure that the SME sector remains competitive and sustainable in the face of the current economic pressures and challenges.
