DATUK Noripah Kamso’s (picture) tenure as Bank Kerjasama Rakyat Malaysia Bhd’s (Bank Rakyat) chairman and all other positions held as chairman of the Bank Rakyat Foundation have ended on Saturday, April 4.

Bernama reported that Bank Rakyat will be announcing Noripah’s successor once the appointment process is finalised.

They added that despite the change in the bank leadership, all planned operations and directions will continue as usual to continue its legacy of excellence.

Noripah, who was a former advisor with CIMB Islamic Bank Bhd, has been with Bank Rakyat since Dec 11, 2018, replacing Tan Sri Shukry Mohd Salleh.

“We appreciate the good deeds and services provided by Noripah, especially in spearheading the bank’s plan and leading its sustainability agenda, and we wish all the best in her future,” Bank Rakyat said in a statement.

Noripah is the latest corporate figure who has been removed from her position since the new Perikatan Nasional government took over last month.

Prior to this, Khazanah Nasional Bhd announced the appointment of Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin as the sovereign wealth fund’s chairman, replacing former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Apart from Muhyiddin, Khazanah also announced the appointment of Finance Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz and Datuk Mohammed Azlan Hashim as its new board members.

The Malaysian Reserve (TMR) reported last week that renowned economist Dr Nungsari Ahmad Radhi has stepped down from his chairman post at the Khazanah Research Institute (KRI).

Sources close to the matter said he left the position after losing the confidence of KRI benefactors.

“He stepped down as he believed he no longer holds the confidence of the (only) benefactor of the institute,” the source told TMR.

Last month, it is reported that Dr Hasnita Hashim has been terminated from her position as the chairperson of Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara).

The announcement of the termination was made in a letter signed by Rural Development Ministry (KPLB) secretary general Datuk Dr Ahmad Jailani Mohamad Yunus. It was distributed to Mara DG and GMs of other land development agencies under the ministry.

The letter said: “The KPLB minister has agreed to terminate all politically appointed directors in agencies and subsidiaries owned by the agency under the ministry, as decided by the Cabinet during its meeting on March 11, 2020.”

The contract of Mara Corp Sdn Bhd chairperson Akhramsyah Muammar Ubaidah Sanusi and Universiti Teknikal Mara Sdn Bhd chairman Prof Emeritus Datuk Dr Sukiman Sarmani were also terminated.
