Beginning Monday, April 6, all banking institutions and PayNet will waive the RM1 charge for interbank cash withdrawals through the automated teller machine (ATM) using the Malaysian Electronic Payment System Sdn Bhd (MEPS) network.
Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the exemption will be until the end of the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.
“This will encourage the public to use the ATMs (in the nearest banks).
“At the same time, I advise the public not to crowd the ATMs. Practise social distancing of one metre,” he said at a press conference held after the Special Ministerial Committee on the MCO here today.
Ismail Sabri said the public are also encouraged to use online banking services.
