VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Car Malaysia Sdn Bhd (VPCM) has launched an online showroom to allow Malaysians to buy cars online during the Movement Control Order (MCO).

The official distributor of Volkswagen cars in the country wants to bring “dealership to the customer’s fingertip” via the Volkswagen eShowroom which also offers special online deals to car buyers.

The company said the exclusive deals are also available on its flagship store on the e-commerce platform Lazada.

In a statement yesterday, MD Erik Winter (picture) said the safety of customers and employees are the top priority and it is crucial that everyone plays their part in overcoming this global pandemic.

“The Volkswagen eShowroom was created to offer our customers an alternative solution for those still interested in purchasing a Volkswagen during this MCO with attractive deals which we believe will ease the purchasing process for our customers,” Winter said.

The local automotive industry had to pull the brakes during the MCO with assembly plants and after-sales services temporarily shutdown.

For this month, the Volkswagen eShowroom and its official flagship store on Lazada are offering additional savings and greater deals ranging from RM3,500 to RM8,000 total savings.

For instance, Volkswagen Polo is offered with RM3,000 standard savings and RM1,500 online savings, bringing the total savings to RM4,500.

The new Volkswagen Passat Elegance model comes with RM2,000 standard savings and RM4,500 online savings bringing the total to RM6,000.

VPCM said a booking fee of 1% of the total recommended retail price is required when purchase is made on Lazada.

The company also said the customer’s preferred dealership will be in touch to finalise the booking after the verification process is complete.

Registration and delivery of the vehicle is said to take place once the MCO period is over.
