MMC Group channels various contributions to support frontliners

AMID the Covid-19 pandemic and Movement Control Order enforced by the government, MMC Corp Bhd (MMC Group) is supporting the country with various corporate social responsibility initiatives.

On March 24, MMC Group donated RM1 million to the Covid-19 fund launched by Prime Minister (PM) Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin in a ceremony held at Perdana Putra, Putrajaya. The Covid-19 fund was launched on March 11 as part of the government’s effort to help Malaysians affected by the pandemic.

The cheque replica was presented to the PM by MMC Group MD Datuk Seri Che Khalib Mohamad Noh.

MMC Group also contributed essential items to ease the burden of frontliners in hospitals as the number of cases continue to rise.

In the central region, a total of 6,000 bottles of mineral water and 900 packs of biscuits were distributed to frontliners especially doctors, nurses and cleaners at Hospital Kuala Lumpur, Hospital Sungai Buloh and Hospital Selayang.

The operating companies in the Southern region namely Pelabuhan Tanjung Pelepas Sdn Bhd, Johor Port Bhd, Senai Airport Terminal Services Sdn Bhd and Senai Airport City Sdn Bhd also joined hands by contributing medical appliances and other supplies to the Covid-19 designated treatment hospitals in Johor Baru.

Surgical face masks, hand sanitisers, gloves, mineral water and packs of biscuits were distributed to the medical frontliners of Hospital Permai in Johor, while Hospital Enche’ Besar Hajjah Khalsom in Kluang will receive medical appliances such as infusion pump and syringe pump, which are essential in treating the patients of Covid-19.

In Melaka, Tanjung Bruas Port Sdn Bhd also took part in distributing bottles of mineral water and biscuits to health workers at Hospital Melaka.

In the Northern region, Penang Port Sdn Bhd distributed “Penang Port Care Packages” containing basic necessities such as rice, sugar, canned food, milk, body wash and detergent to 100 health workers of Hospital Pulau Pinang to help them provide daily necessities for their families at home despite of the long working hours.

“At this crucial moment, we will continue to support all efforts taken by the government to contain this pandemic. We also appreciate the dedication and sacrifices of the nation’s frontliners who are working tirelessly to fight against Covid-19 and helping to keep us safe during this challenging time,” Che Khalib said in a statement.
