WITH the implementation of Movement Control Order (MCO), rail operators have begun revising their respective rail services network to cope with the change.

In a statement yesterday, Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd announced that its rail service network in the Klang Valley will be revised to a 10-minute frequency from 6am to midnight, from 6am to midnight daily, including public holidays from March 20 to March 31.

“We will continue to monitor the demand of passengers and will shorten the frequency by sending additional trains, if necessary.

“At the same time, we assured all our passengers that we will continue with our cleaning activities at the stations and inside the trains to ensure the safety and hygiene is always top notch as the safety and good health of our passengers and staff is our top priority,” Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd CEO, Abdul Hadi Amran said in the statement.

Meanwhile, the operator of both KLIA Express and KLIA transit, Express Rail Link Sdn Bhd (ERL), also announced that its train services will run as a combined service at a 30-minute intervals from 4:30am to 1am daily, beginning March 20 until Mac 31. The journey time between KL Sentral and Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) will be 35 minutes, whereas for KL Sentral and KLIA2, it is 39 minutes.

At KL Sentral, all departures will be from KLIA Ekspress Departure platform.

“During this period of heightened precautions, we are tripling the frequency of cleaning of high-contact areas at stations. We disinfect all high-contact areas on the train and perform steam cleaning of train seats during our nightly deep cleaning.

“Besides that, stronger disinfectants are being used by our cleaners. Hand sanitisers are provided at our ticket counters,” ERL said in a statement.

ERL added that they are working closely with the authorities and will operate its services accordingly, adding that the precautionary measures are also guided by the Health Ministry.
