CELCOM Axiata Bhd has unveiled its new innovative postpaid plan, Celcom Mega — allowing consumers to trade in their unused Internet quota for cashback, making it the first telecommunication company in Malaysia to do so.

Chief product and innovation officer Roy Ong (picture) said this cashback feature is the first of its kind in the country, with 10GB equivalent to RM5 cashback for a limited time.

“For now, you can trade in 10GB per month. The limited time is only for two months. If the take-up is good, we will continue with it,” he said at the launch in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

The existing Celcom subscribers can switch their plan to Celcom Mega and trade in their unused Internet quota for cashback via Boost e-wallet at the end of each billing cycle, giving more value for their purchase.

This plan also offers additional features beyond data offerings, providing its consumers the flexibility to choose their preferred Internet experience with either Unlimited Mobile Internet plan or Lightning Mobile Internet Speed plan.

“This is Malaysia’s most innovative postpaid plan that we have developed for all Malaysians across all socio-economic and all behaviours of Internet use,” Ong added.

Celcom Mega comes with 30GB Internet quota for only RM80 per month with unlimited calls to all networks. From there, users can choose add-ons for additional benefits.

According to Ong, users who prefer smooth connectivity can opt for the Unlimited Mobile Internet plan with two Mega Unlimited options.

With an additional RM18 per month under Mega Unlimited M, consumers can enjoy unlimited high-definition (HD) streaming, social media and music. Meanwhile, Mega Unlimited L (RM68) gives access to unlimited full HD gaming, content creation and high- quality music streaming.

Those who crave for fast Internet speeds can choose the Lightning Mobile Internet Speed plan that has three options to freely utilise their Internet quota when travelling overseas (with Celcom’s Roam Like Home feature) or even trade-in unused Internet quota for cashback.

In addition to 30GB each, the Mega M (RM18), Mega L (RM68) and Mega XL (RM108) offer users 10GB, 30GB and 70GB respectively.

Mega XL offers free roaming in 12 countries, including Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, the Philippines, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Nepal.

Speed caps for Celcom Mega unlimited quota plans are 5Mbps for Mega Unlimited and 15Mbps for Mega Unlimited L.

Users can also share their Internet quota up to three supplementary lines by adding Family Lines at only RM40 per line (additional 15GB Internet per line) to their primary plan.
