Volkswagen is once again official car for Le Tour de Langkawi

VOLKSWAGEN Passenger Cars Malaysia Sdn Bhd yesterday announced that it will be returning to the Le Tour de Langkawi (LTdL) as its official automotive partner.

This year’s event is the 25th edition of LTdL and marks the third time that Volkswagen plays the role of the official car sponsor since 2016.

As official automotive partner, Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia will be providing a total of 120 units of the Tiguan Highline, which will be used throughout the race by riders, safety marshals and officials.

The Tiguan Highline is Volkswagen’s most successful SUV. The chosen automobi le is also equipped with redefined, new standards in design, comfort and functionality.

Perfectly thought out from the first to the last millimetre, with spacious and flexible interior, the freshly redefined Tiguan Highline appeals to drivers and families as a genuine all-round vehicle.

To date, five million units of the Tiguan Highline have been sold globally.

The Tiguan Highline combines a 1.4 litre TSI (turbocharged direct injection) engine with a six-speed wet clutch DSG (direct shift gearbox) to give an impressive output of 150PS and a torque of 250Nm between 1,500rpm and 3,500rpm.

Volkswagen Passenger Cars Malaysia MD Erik Winter expressed the brand’s delight to once again be a part of one of the world’s most renowned road cycling competitions.

LTdL is a multiple stage bicycle race that has gained multiple accolades and is now recognised as a highlight in the global competitive cycling calendar, attracting the world’s top road cyclists.

The 25th edition of LTdL is set to be an amazing milestone for the race and Malaysia.

Held under the theme of “Sports Unite, Cycling Contributes”, LTdL 2020 is a special edition as it celebrates its silver jubilee with an attractive menu of activities that are set to fuel not only the sporting spirit of the cyclists and fans alike, but also the nation as a whole.

With Sabah and Sarawak back in the race route, it sure will bring more colours and excitement to this year’s edition of the renowned road cycling competition.

Spectators and cycling fans globally can expect an intense, fast and furious competition throughout the race as riders push themselves to their limits with a target to win Asia’s most prestigious multistage cycling event.
