THE Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives has announced the appointment of Datuk Rosman Mohamed as CEO of Bank Rakyat, effective Feb 1, 2020.

Its Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Redzuan Md Yusof said the appointment has been confirmed and went through the “fit and proper” assessment process by Bank Negara Malaysia.

Rosman, according to him, has demonstrated outstanding commitment and consistency in spearheading the implementation of Bank Rakyat 2025 and the initiative to empower the bank’s new core banking system scheduled to be operational in June 2020.

“In addition, Rosman has also led the movement to boost the entrepreneurship and cooperative sectors, in line with the ministry’s aspirations through various initiatives such as financing intensification, the establishment of the small and medium enterprise centres, as well as various forms of advisory and consultancy services to high potentials, viable companies and cooperatives,” said Mohd Redzuan in a statement yesterday.

Following the appointment, Rosman will step down from his role as the bank’s board member.

He was appointed as Bank Rakyat’s board member since April 1, 2019, and subsequently assumed the role of the bank’s acting MD from Aug 1 last year.

Rosman holds a Masters of Business Administration from Saint Louis University, Missouri, and Bachelor of Business Administration from Urbana University, Ohio.

He had previously served as Bank Rakyat’s senior GM for corporate services, and a former credit officer and head of career training and development at Malayan Banking Bhd. — Bernama
