Coronavirus: Marine Department continuously monitoring entry of foreign tourists at ports

The Marine Department of Malaysia (JLM) is continuously monitoring the entry of foreign tourists into the country at international passenger terminals and cruise ship terminals, as part of efforts to prevent the spread of the novel coronavirus.

This is being undertaken in cooperation with district or state health departments, as well as port health authorities, the department said in a statement today, explaining that it would alert the same authorities to the arrival of ships and sail boats from China, so that health screening can be undertaken.

In the event that the quarantine of such vessels is required, this will be undertaken in designated quarantine areas, such as the Gedong gateway in Selangor, the department added.
