Perodua launches 2020 Bezza, aims to sell 4,000 units monthly

PERUSAHAAN Otomobil Kedua Sdn Bhd (Perodua) is aiming to sell 4,000 units of its new 2020 Bezza every month, with improvements to the sedan centred around smart design, smart drive and smart safety.

Perodua president and CEO Datuk Zainal Abidin Ahmad said the time was right to refresh Bezza following its maiden launch in July 2016.

“For this year, we target monthly sales of 4,000 Bezza units. When we look at new bookings since we launched on Jan 3 until now, we have received about 2,000 bookings.

“I (also) have about 8,000 bookings from last year. Hence, the total is about 10,000. We target to make deliveries in one month or slightly more than that,” he said at the official launch of the new Bezza in Kuala Lumpur yesterday.

By the end of this month, 5,600 units are expected to be delivered to buyers. To date, some 184,000 Bezza units have been sold since July 2016.

The uplifted version of the Bezza comes in four variants, namely 1.0 GMT, 1.0 GAT, 1.3 XAT and 1.3 AV AT.

Prices range from RM34,580 to RM49,980 on-the-road before insurance in Peninsular Malaysia.

The original Bezza was Perodua’s first sedan and Malaysia’s first energy-efficient vehicle in 2016.

“The 2020 Perodua Bezza is the result of our many engagements with our valued customers. The major change that we have done is on the design so, it looks more sleek, stable and solid,” Zainal Abidin said.

With an upper body developed completely by Perodua, the new Bezza offers a contemporary look and advanced safety technology in a compact, great-value package that maintains fuel efficiency, dependability, space, practicality, ease of driving and low ownership costs.

It appears bolder than its predecessor with sharp LED headlamps that are standard across the board, framing an angular and imposing front bumper.

Two-tone side skirts, also standard across the range, join a restyled rear bumper and striking 15-inch 10-spoke alloys (on 1.3 litre variants) for a cohesive and confident look all around.

Perodua has also added two new body colours — Garnet Red (exclusive to 1.3-litre variants) and Granite Grey — to the four existing hues on offer, namely ivory white, glittering silver, ocean blue and sugar brown.

White-illuminated gauges uplift the interior, while keyless entry and start, as well as front corner sensors are offered on the 1.3 variants.

All variants have power-adjustable side mirrors and reverse sensors, while the AV variant adds a reverse camera and side mirrors that can retract with the push of a button.

Perodua’s Advanced Safety Assist 2.0 (ASA 2.0) suite of driver assistance safety systems also makes its debut in the Bezza range on the AV variant, making it the most affordable sedan in Malaysia with such a feature.

The ASA 2.0 comprises pedestrian detection (up to 50 kmh), pre-collision warning (up to 100 kmh) pre-collision braking (up to 80 kmh), front departure alert and pedal misoperation control, all of which work together to mitigate collisions.
