Raja Azmi resigns as MAHB CEO, Mohd Shukrie made acting CEO


MALAYSIA Airports Holdings Bhd (MAHB) has announced the appointment of Datuk Mohd Shukrie Mohd Salleh (picture) as the acting group CEO, following the departure of Raja Azmi Raja Nazuddin as group CEO.

The airport operator announced that Raja Azmi, 52, had decided to leave MAHB to pursue other opportunities. His resignation took effect yesterday.

“As a public listed company, MAHB will be undertaking the proper process to identify and appoint a suitable successor.

“In the interim, the board has appointed Mohd Shukrie, the current COO, as the acting group CEO with immediate effect,” MAHB said in a statement yesterday.

Raja Azmi joined MAHB on Feb 1, 2016, as its CFO before being promoted to group CEO on Jan 4, 2019. “He has contributed significantly to MAHB during his tenure. The board would like to thank Raja Azmi for his services and would like to wish him well in his future endeavours,” MAHB added.

Mohd Shukrie, 46, holds a degree in business studies from the University of North London and is a chartered accountant, the company noted in a separate Bursa filing yesterday.

Mohd Shukrie previously served as AirAsia Bhd COO, prior to his appointment as MAHB COO on May 1, 2019.

Other key positions Mohd Shukrie has held include Pos Malaysia Bhd group CEO, Konsortium Logistik Bhd group CEO and several leadership roles during his time in various companies within the DRB-Hicom Bhd.

He began his career with Public Bank Securities Sdn Bhd and thereafter served with United Overseas Bank Bhd.

According to the filing, he has had diverse experience throughout his career in consumer and corporate banking, corporate finance and advisory, mergers and acquisitions, financial services, risk management, human resources and procurement.

Shares of MAHB closed unchanged at RM7.56 yesterday, valuing the company at RM12.54 billion.
