HUNDREDS of people were seen at Menara Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) building on Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur, yesterday as those who invested in the Amanah Saham Bumiputera (ASB) scheme are able to withdraw their dividend which was announced last month.
PNB announced an income distribution of 5.5 sen per unit including a 0.5 sen bonus for the scheme. The amount was the lowest payout for ASB since its launch in 1990.
A total of RM9 billion in dividends will be paid out to 10 million unit holders who own 167.3 billion units under the scheme.
PNB chairman Tan Sri Dr Zeti Akhtar Aziz said the low dividend was due to the challenging financial market environment, contributed by the ongoing US-China trade tensions along with weak equity markets.
There are 33 Amanah Saham Nasional Bhd’s (ASNB) branches nationwide.
